What is our instruction philosophy?
Development Pathway
Fundamentals: Foundations 1
The first step in every archer’s journey begins with safety, proper technique, and learning to enjoy the sport. Athletes are introduced to equipment, range safety, shooting form, and the complete shot process in a fun and encouraging environment.
Fundamentals: Foundations 2
Once the fundamentals have been established, athletes begin refining their technique while improving consistency, accuracy, and confidence. New skills are introduced gradually to encourage long-term success rather than short-term results.
Fundamentals: Foundations 3
Athletes continue building on their technical foundation while learning more advanced shooting concepts, scoring, equipment care, and the responsibilities of becoming an independent archer. This program prepares athletes for recreational shooting, club activities, and the transition to more advanced coaching.
Progression: Intermediate
Intermediate athletes begin to think beyond simply shooting arrows. Coaching focuses on technical refinement, consistency under pressure, goal setting, equipment knowledge, and an introduction to competitive archery. Athletes are encouraged to challenge themselves while continuing to develop sound shooting habits.
Competitive: Development
Our Competitive Development program is designed for athletes who are committed to improving their performance and participating in tournaments. Training is conducted in a collaborative, high-performance environment where athletes work together while receiving individualized coaching based on their experience and goals.
Sessions include technical coaching, scoring rounds, equipment tuning, mental preparation, competition planning, video analysis, and individual performance reviews. Every athlete receives coaching appropriate to their stage of development while benefiting from training alongside other dedicated archers.
As athletes continue to develop and demonstrate the commitment, skill, and performance standards required for higher levels of competition, they will be prepared to move into future Performance programming as it becomes available.
Lesson Philosophy
Coaching with Purpose
At XQuest Archery, we believe quality coaching is more important than simply shooting more arrows. Every practice has a purpose, every drill reinforces a specific skill, and every athlete receives feedback designed to help them improve.
Our programs emphasize:
- Proper technique before increased distance or draw weight.
- Individualized coaching within small class sizes.
- Progressive skill development.
- Safe equipment use and knowledge.
- Goal setting and personal achievement.
- Respect, sportsmanship, and positive club culture.
- Building confidence both on and off the shooting line.
Small Classes. Premium Coaching.
We intentionally ensure that we have two coaches for all of our classes. This allows our coaches to provide meaningful individual instruction while creating a welcoming environment where every participant can succeed.
Our competitive athletes continue to benefit from a collaborative training environment supported by experienced coaches and dedicated volunteers who share a passion for helping athletes achieve their goals.
Learn for Life
Success in archery isn’t measured only by medals or scores. It is measured by continual improvement, confidence, perseverance, and the enjoyment of the sport.
Whether you are shooting your very first arrow or preparing for your next tournament, our commitment remains the same—to provide premium coaching at a reasonable price while helping every athlete become the best archer they can be.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our classes. All of our coaches are fully certified and have more than 10 years of coaching experience each!
